The POD Network is a professional development organization devoted to improving the quality of instruction at higher education institutions around the country. As the oldest and largest educational development organization in the world, POD is growing so rapidly that their mainly volunteer staff were finding it challenging to keep up with their success.
They needed a new website to serve as a home base for their vast membership who together represent hundreds of colleges and universities across the US. They turned to WTW to help develop a comprehensive web presence, allowing them to focus the whole of their efforts to provide a community of practice for scholars and practitioners of educational development.
WTW embedded itself within the POD Network, relying on the input of a volunteer committee to ensure that all relevant decisions would come from the members themselves. Starting with a brand book developed by another POD member, the team built a timeless, contemporary, and responsive site that could grow in functionality alongside the organization. Photographic assets were sourced from another savvy member of the network, exemplifying the close-knit community that POD has strived to foster since their inception. Finally, WTW overhauled the site’s registration system for POD’s annual conference, reducing complexity and allowing the membership to spend less time solving technical issues and more time providing unparalleled support to post-secondary educators.
Deftly managing deliverables along a set timeline, WTW launched the revamped site to much acclaim a month before the 2019 POD Annual Conference. The registration system functioned immaculately, facilitating the largest conference in POD’s 40+ year history and setting the stage for continued leadership, growth, and innovation in the educational development field.
